Foil Tent Roasted Turkey

This simple recipe shows you how to tent an oil-brushed turkey with foil to make a moist and delicious bird.  Really, with just two ingredients, it couldn't be any easier.

Directions

Heat the oven to 325°F.  Line a large roasting pan with aluminum foil.Remove the package of giblets and neck from the turkey cavity.  Rinse the turkey with cold water and pat dry.  Tie the ends of the drumsticks together.Place the turkey, breast-side up, into the pan.  Brush the turkey with the oil.  Insert a meat thermometer into the thickest part of the meat, not touching the bone.  Place a sheet of foil over the turkey, tenting it up in the middle to leave about 1 inch of space between the top of the turkey and the foil.  Crimp the foil to the long sides of the pan to secure.Roast for 3 hours or until the thermometer reads 165°F.  Begin checking for doneness after 2 1/2 hours of the roasting time.  Let the turkey stand for 10 minutes before slicing.
